When I started the medical weight loss/healthy lifestyle program at City Centre Health and Fitness last year, I sometimes had chest discomfort during walking. I no longer have chest pain, and last time I did a stress test at the hospital I had no symptoms of chest pain. Since I started the men’s health program/healthy lifestyle program at CCHF I have lost 40 lbs and reversed my symptoms of Diabetes. The team of health professionals has taught me how to eat better and I exercise regularly. At first I was very intimidated by the gym but the staff is friendly and always makes me feel welcome. During the first 10 month of my participation in the medical weight loss/healthy lifestyle program at CCHF I was struggling with commitment to myself and felt hopeless and was lacking motivation to make the changes that I needed to reach my goals. There was a lot of education and support but I needed something else. When they added the emotional eating/emotional stress management program to their services, things changed for me. I now feel strong and motivated to continue my journey to a healthier lifestyle and thus healthy weight management. I know the journey will be longer, but as someone told me, “When it doesn’t matter how fast it comes, it comes faster”. (KH)

The program has opened my eyes to the benefits of making a commitment to improve your health. In the back of my mind, I expected significant weight loss and a healthier lifestyle; both have been difficult in the past. I have committed myself to healthy diet and activity and feel great because of it. I'm feeling more fit and wear a smaller size of clothing! I feel I know what I have to do to manage not only my weight but my overall health. I consider my health and make decisions based on how I want to feel. I still have goals to reduce the number on the scale, however not at the loss of self esteem and stress or my health. I will continue to be active and balance physical activities that I enjoy and I will continue to prepare and eat healthy and proper meals for myself and my family. Perhaps this begins a lifestyle change for them too...(CP)
